Avenue Q
An incredible musical with people controlled monster puppets and “normal” actors tackling everyday issues.
It was on a Thursday morning when I received a call on my mobile from Lukasz, mosaic manager, who gave me an invite to join mosaic in seeing this musical. I had just got through 3 weeks of stressful issues, so I decided to attend for the night. I thank God I did. Upon the arrival of Thursday evening I met up with Lukasz and the rest of mosaic members in Piccadilly Circus. Many youngsters that are not out are scared but being with this group you don’t have to be. It’s free and fulfilling to go at night to talk to other young people like me, also general public of all diversity. It helps your confidence to grow. When we all eventually gathered up we made our way arms in arms together to Noel Coward theatre, where we excitedly awaited to enter the theatre and take our seats. Being in a group in a public audience makes the alienation feeling mostly vanish, freeze, go away however you want to put it. It did for me.
We took our seats whilst the theatre had opened its doors to arrivals of the public and waited. A few minutes later the musical began. (We also had the chance to buy drinks chocolate and other snacks we all took advantage of).
Musical puppets, people and explicit content were exhilarating, revelling and not to mention hilarious. The play was 2 hours and 15 minutes long, 15 minutes for the middle of the musical break / interval. The monster puppets were controlled by people, these talented people had amazing voices and dare I say it the actors and actresses were bloody gorgeous. The musical contained language and other materials like porno references, hints of racism and gay references but all in a supportive view. It was like the Muppets movie in adult style. And 2 bad influences that show the ways which temptation makes us do bad things. After the musical had ended you are given a chance to purchase a souvenir despite it being expensive.
Amazing issues that the play turned into laughter, support turned into confidence and we all loved it. We all enjoyed the night out and it will be a night we will all remember I know. Just come and experience it for yourself and thank you for your time.
